3 Days: Altyn Emel, Charyn Canyon & Kolsai Lakes

Day 1. Almaty – Altyn Emel National Park – Basshi Village

  • Morning departure from Almaty with hotel pick-up.

  • Scenic drive through the Kazakh steppe to the breathtaking Altyn Emel National Park (approx. 4–5 hours).

  • Lunch in the peaceful village of Basshi.

  • Visit the world-famous Singing Dune — a unique natural wonder where the sand produces mysterious melodic sounds in windy weather.

  • Enjoy panoramic desert and mountain landscapes, perfect for photography.

  • Return to Basshi Village.

  • Check-in at a cozy local guesthouse.

  • Traditional dinner and overnight stay in Basshi.

Day 2: Altyn Emel – Charyn Canyon – Saty Village

  • Breakfast at the guesthouse.

  • Drive to the spectacular Charyn Canyon, often called the “Grand Canyon of Kazakhstan.”

  • Walk through the dramatic Valley of Castles with its incredible red rock formations.

  • Hike down to the river and enjoy free time for exploration and photography.

  • Lunch by the river surrounded by canyon scenery.

  • Afternoon visit to the stunning Lake Kaindy, famous for its submerged forest and crystal-clear mountain water.

  • Transfer to the picturesque mountain village of Saty.

  • Check-in at a local guesthouse.

  • Traditional homemade dinner.

  • Overnight stay in Saty Village.

Day 3.

Kolsai Lake – Return to Almaty

  • Breakfast at the guesthouse.

  • Morning transfer to the beautiful Kolsai Lakes (First Lake).

  • Free time to enjoy the area and optional activities:

    • Hiking along scenic mountain trails

    • Relaxing lakeside walks

    • Horse riding (optional)

    • Boat rental (optional)

  • Lunch at a local café or picnic in nature.

  • Afternoon departure back to Almaty.
